Reciprocal IVF

Reciprocal IVF (Shared Maternity)

[ux_text_box]

For same-sex female couples: one partner donates eggs, the other carries the pregnancy.

Reciprocal IVF — also called shared maternity, co-IVF, or reception of oocytes from partner (ROPA) — allows both partners in a same-sex female couple to be biologically involved in the pregnancy. One partner undergoes ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval; the eggs are fertilized and the resulting embryo is transferred to the other partner’s uterus.

Argentina has a fully inclusive legal framework for LGBTQ+ families. There are no restrictions on treatment for same-sex couples, and the legal parenthood of both partners is recognized from birth.

What does the process involve?

  1. Initial consultation with Dr. Glujovsky (by video call)
  2. Evaluation of both partners
  3. Ovarian stimulation for the donor partner (10–12 days, partly remote)
  4. Egg retrieval in Buenos Aires
  5. Fertilization and embryo culture
  6. Transfer to the carrying partner (may happen in the same trip or a later cycle)
